FTFI Recommendations
The Forward Together Facilities Initiative made recommendations to the WPS Board of Education at the beginning of 2026, which were approved on February 24, 2026. Sunset Ridge PK-8 will transition into a PK-6 school at the start of the 2028-29 school year. This move will allow for more electives and middle school experiences for our students.
What Comes Next
Current students will remain at Sunset Ridge through the end of the 2027-28 school year. Beginning in 2028-29, when our 6th graders head to middle school, they will attend Uplands Discovery Campus for 7th and 8th grade.

An Exciting Transition
All students react differently to a change in their routine and what they know.
For many children, this will be an exciting transition and a part of growing up. Still, for others, especially younger children, it may produce some questions and anxiety. Our counselors have put together some simple talking points to keep in mind when talking to your children.
